South Carolina (May 26) |

Left: The second main objective for South Carolina was the estate of Charles Pinckney, one of the lesser known of our founding fathers. I was looking forward to learning more of his life and times.
Below: Although this is the land that used to belong to Pinckney, his old house is long gone. It was okay, but no Kitty Hawk... er... Kill Devil Hills. |

It was recommended that I see the old part of Charleston, so I went. As a resident of the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay area, I was made to feel right at home. |

Above: Typical residents of Charleston. Actually, they worked at a museum, but this part of the city is old, historic, and impecably maintained. One of the nearby houses represents the state in my 50 State Pledge.
Left: Still, the downturn in the economy has hit this town too. This historic house was going for just about $2,500,000. Location, location, location!
I was remiss in my tkourist duties and forgot to ask if anyone here actually danced the Charleston. Next stop, Georgia. |
