Georgia (May 27) |
Left: I made my way to Augusta, Georgia. As a golfer wannabe, I was obliged to make this stop, the home of the Masters Tournament. I was unable to get in due in part to a large wall and in part due to a handicap much too big for such a place.
Below: For my main Georgian adventure, I set my sights on the swamplands of Okefenokee. This is the scene entering the famed swamp. |

Left: Yes, there is a privately run park for the swamp, and they have a welcoming committee, Walt Kelly's Pogo. While he seems to have lost an arm here, he's as friendly as ever. It's nice to see that Okefenokee kept better relations with its cartoon residents than did International (Frostbite) Falls, Minnesota!
Below: But it's not all fun and games here! |

Ooooooh, I'm scaaaaared! This is a sea otter that the park folks (probably at Pogo's insistence) took in. How could he possibly be considered dangerous? |
