Vancouver (August 27 - 28)
Left and Below:  My flight from Seattle to Vancouver was without incident, international or otherwise. I had opted for something a bit more upscale than the Motel 6 I had in my prior locale!  This is the Pan Pacific, on Vancouver's downtown waterfront.  As Wayne Campbell would say, "I'M NOT WORTHY!  I'M NOT WORTHY!"
They think of everything here.  If you can't remember what day it is, they change the mats in the elevators to let you know.  A little thing, but I guess they heard I was coming!  (Actually, I took this picture the following morning which actually WAS Friday, but thought it would fit better here.  So sue me.
After a downtown stroll at which I found a nice pizza-by-the-slice place (okay, it was a bit of a dive, but it was cheap and had the redeeming characteristic that it was open) I slept well.  I should have stayed awake longer to get my money's worth out of the Pan Pacific!

Of course, in such a fancy place, breakfast started at about $20.  No way.  They actually had a connected escape hatch to sanity, of which I made frequent use during my stay.
After breakfast, I took a leisurely walk through the no-so-upscale part of the city to the corner of E. Pender and Carrall in the Chinatown to see Sun Yat-Sen Garden.  I mentioned before that I love gardens.  The republic's first leader.Sun Yat-Sen was a Doctor turned revolutionary who traveled the world to raise funds for the post-imperial Chinese revolution.  He was much revered here, having visited three times.  This garden, opened in 1986, commemorates him.
