The John Shinnick 84 Street, 10 Path Pledge

The Kensington Paths

The paths of Kensington.

Pretty cool!

This is a map of the ten Paths of Kensington. Too narrow to accommodate cars, they serve the purpose of providing convenient shortcuts between some of the streets. Oddly, they are completely unowned. The county of Contra Costa used to, but then they could no longer afford to do the maintenance, so they washed their hands (and budgets) of them. So it's the private residents that keep them up. Gee, that sounds strange, but that's how it is. There's a website KensingtonPaths.org that says that Princeton Path (7) and Beloit Path (10) are currently closed. After seeing their current state, I can see why! I've given myself a pass on these.
